Following the disclosure of my profession to my private driving instructor, he proposed a barter—one driving lesson in exchange for my design services to reproduce the CDC circuit map from his hand-drawn version. The drawing, iterated countless times and fried by Xerox machines, had long served as a teaching aid in his lessons. He was delighted with the result.

As part of POOLSProject’s first series, alongside seven other creatives, I took this opportunity to repurpose the artwork into a T-shirt design as a tribute to my time learning with him, and to my lingering apprehension towards driving on the circuit.
